How to Make Your Android Faster with Developer Options

After using an Android device for a while, you might notice that it runs slower. With time, your phone’s processing power decreases because of the background apps running in the background. These apps eat up your phone’s memory and make you wait when opening or switching between applications.

There are several ways to speed up your slow benchmark scores, but one of the best ways to improve overall performance is by disabling or uninstalling apps you don’t need. If that doesn’t help, here’s how to speed up your Android device with Developer Options.

Developer Option is a hidden tool in Android devices which can be used to optimize an Android phone for better performance. This option becomes available only after you will unlock your device’s Developer Option. Here is how to enable Developer Options on Android devices:

How to Enable Developer Options on Android

Method 1: How to Turn ON Developer Options on Android Devices Using Hardware Buttons (Samsung Phones)

If you have a Samsung phone with physical Home and Menu buttons, then follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to any screen on your phone

Step 2: Now, simultaneously press and hold the ‘ Menu ‘ and ‘ Volume Down ‘ buttons until you see a message saying Developer Mode has been enabled. You can now release these buttons.

You can also enable developer options using hardware keys on some other android phones too (e.g. HTC, etc). For these Android devices, the process is a bit different. Here’s how to Enable Developer Option on Lollipop and Marshmallow devices:

Method 2: How to Turn ON Developer Options on Android Phones Using Settings Menu (Lollipop & Marshmallow)

Step 1: Go to ‘Settings’ in your phone

Step 2: Scroll down to ‘About Phone’ or ‘About Tablet’ and tap on it

Step 3: Now, tap seven times on the ‘Build Number’ item

Once you will tap 7 times on the Build Number option, Developer Options would be activated in your Android phone. You can also activate developer options without tapping 7 times using Settings > Developer Options.

Step 3: Now, you can go back to ‘Settings’ main menu and find the newly added Developer Options.

Note: If your phone is running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, then you might need to first enable “Developer options” before you turn on USB Debugging mode by going into Settings > About Phone > Build Number. Repeat the same steps mentioned above (Step 1 to Step 3).

How to Enable USB Debugging on Android (Lollipop & Marshmallow)

Once you have enabled developer options in your android device, you need to configure Developer Options for better performance. You can enable USB debugging in your phone by following these steps:

Step 1: Go to ‘Settings’ in your phone

Step 2: Now, select the ‘Developer Options’ menu item or scroll down to find Developer Options. You can also directly go to Step 3 if you have enabled developer options using hardware buttons.

Step 3: Once here, checkmark USB Debugging option. This option is usually turned off by default so you need to manually turn USB Debugging ON.

Step 4: Tap OK in the confirmation message box when you see the following message during the process.

You have successfully enabled USB Debugging on your Android phone or tablet. You can also find this option in Developer Options under Settings.

Now, let’s talk about how to speed up your android phone with Developer Options.
